I can help with any phase of lure development—from a rough idea or sketch to a fully functional prototype and even small production runs of painted, finished lures. Whether you have only an initial concept, a napkin drawing, or a complete 3D model, I can put a working lure in your hands within days using a unique resin-based process I’ve developed and refined. If the design is viable, I can then quickly prototype it and produce small batches (10–100 units) of blanks or fully finished lures. My process is faster, more flexible, and far more affordable than having a mold cut overseas—with the added benefit of keeping your idea secure. In the past, I have produced 2 products overseas and can advise on that process as well. Honestly, I'm faster and cheaper!
My Michigan workshop is equipped with 3D design software, a lure pressure-testing system, a lure tension tester, 3D printers, resin molding and processing equipment, vinyl cutters, full painting and clear-coating systems, underwater cameras, and professional video-editing tools. I test lures in my own pond and have access to boats on Saginaw Bay and Lake Michigan for real-world on-water validation. I’m also developing an indoor test tank for controlled winter testing.
A bit about me:
I’m a retired mechanical engineer (MTU) with 18 years in automotive manufacturing and 10 years in research and product development. I hold more than 10 patents—mostly marine-related—and have two additional fishing-device patent submissions. Thanks to that experience, I can also advise on early-stage patent strategy, basic protection steps, and what to consider before investing heavily in tooling or public exposure. I’ve designed, tested, developed, marketed, and brought to production more than 25 unique lures—many of which are available on this website.
I grew up trolling Lake Michigan from the moment I was strong enough to pull-start the 9.9 Merc on our 12-footer, and I’ve been creating unique ways to catch more fish ever since.
Send me an email or give me a call—I'd be happy to discuss your idea!
